THE RISK AFA

The Risk AFA: Authorization for Action.

Most risk reports end with a stack of findings. The Risk AFA ends with a decision. It is a short list of recommended actions, in priority order, each with a responsible party and the expected effect on your cost of risk and your margin. One item is chosen to finish before your next renewal submission. The rest run in sequence after it, and that list becomes the work plan for the year ahead.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE

A plan you can approve, and the evidence behind it.

A short action plan you can approve the way you approve any other capital decision. The evidence behind each recommendation, available in full. A named owner for every item, on your side and ours.

The action plan

Recommended actions in priority order, each with a responsible party and the expected effect on your cost of risk, which is to say your margin. One item is finished before your next renewal submission; the rest are sequenced by month beyond it.

The evidence behind it

Every recommendation starts with risk data we compile and maintain for your industry: how often losses happen and what they cost, what your peers carry in limits and retentions, what the market is pricing by line, and what each control has been shown to save. A generalist broker does not have it. We measure your own losses and program terms against it, tested with the same financial methods your CFO uses for capital decisions. The analysis is auditable and objective. It is our homework, and you get all of it.

When, and at what cost

Your Risk AFA is at no cost, typically three to six months after your renewal. One plan carries more than a year of work. For clients whose coverage we place, the annual stewardship report tracks it, and a new Risk AFA follows when your operations or loss trend change materially.

AFTER YOU APPROVE

Then the work starts.

For the first item, and every item after it, we bring the resources to get it done and work it with you until it is finished. By the time we go to market, the underwriter is looking at a better risk than last year, and we show them why.

Two more touchpoints keep the plan moving through the year, and repeat every year after.

Stewardship report

About six months after renewal: how losses are tracking, and where each action item stands.

Renewal strategy meeting

About three months before renewal: our coverage change recommendations for your decision before we go to market, and what to expect for each line of coverage on your renewal.
